64ZEPH 1964 Ford MK III Zephyr

1964 Ford Zephyr painted orange

The Story

Bryce and Marcia started building this 1964 MK III Zephyr back to standard in 2010 as the vehicle was in great condition and had been well restored since about 1996 with the registration on hold.

They changed their thoughts over time and decided to do a radical build, but make it look like a reasonably standard MK III Zephyr from the outside.

All the standard running gear that they rebuilt was on-sold to other Zephyr restores which is how they had the good fortune to meet Brian Quinn who prepared and painted this build for the Henderson's - Brian used the rebuilt engine and other bits from this project on his own MK III ute project.

This has been a huge family combined skill project and the Henderson's note it's great to finally have it on the road.

What's in it

The motor is a special build Short Shaft 20B 3 Rotor Mazda, coupled to a Series 5 RX7 transmission, through to a commercial LSD diff. It operates on 7 PSI of boost from its twin turbos which gives it 560hp at the rear axles.

It has full air suspension, a triangulated 4 link rear on the front suspension, and sits on a set of 18x10 Simmons on the rear and 18x7 on the front.

A fully integrated Pioneer audio system is linked to a 32" RSE TV in the boot.

The rest you can see at the Matamata Carorama on the 7th of March 2024!
